Role: Head of Centre / Centre Manager

The Opportunity
We are working exclusively with the Cumbria Youth Alliance who are seeking an experienced, commercially aware and community-focused leader to take on a newly created role as Head of Centre.
This is a unique opportunity to lead the ongoing development of a multi-use youth and community hub, combining community delivery with commercial sustainability. The role will suit someone who thrives in a hands-on, evolving environment, and is motivated by the opportunity to build and lead a newly established centre through its next phase of development.
Working closely with the COO, you will take ownership of the centre, driving utilisation, developing partnerships, and ensuring the space becomes a vibrant, sustainable and well-used community asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day management and development of the centre
- Develop and manage a structured weekly programme of activity, balancing internal delivery and external usage
- Drive income generation through room hire, partnerships and commercial opportunities
- Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including public sector and community organisations
- Act as the primary point of contact for centre users, partners and external organisations
- Work closely with internal teams including Finance, HR, Operations and Marketing
- Line manage a small number of staff where applicable
- Oversee building operations, including maintenance, access and space utilisation
- Identify and develop new opportunities to increase occupancy, engagement and revenue
- Support wider organisational fundraising and sustainability initiatives, including diversifying income streams
About You
- Proven experience managing or developing a multi-use space, service or community provision
- Strong commercial awareness, with experience in income generation, partnerships or revenue growth
- Confident managing stakeholder relationships across public, private or third sector organisations
- Comfortable working in a growing and evolving environment, with the ability to adapt to change
- A hands-on approach, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational delivery
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Passionate about community impact and supporting young people

Additional Information
This is primarily a site-based role in Workington. Some flexibility may be required to support events or partner activity outside standard hour.
