Role: Head of Reward (Interim)
Location: Mostly remote
Contract: Interim (3 months initially)
Salary: Circa £75k
About the Role
We are recruiting an experienced Interim Head of Reward to join a national and well-established third sector organisation. Leading a small team of reward specialists, you will be responsible for overseeing the organisation's reward framework, providing expert advice on pay and grading matters, and ensuring reward practices remain fair, consistent and fit for purpose.This role would suit a reward professional who enjoys balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery and can quickly build credibility with senior leaders, HR colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the Reward team
- Provide expert advice to managers, HR and other key stakeholders on pay, grading, job evaluation and reward-related matters.
- Oversee the application of the organisation's reward policies and frameworks.
- Lead and support job evaluation activity using the HAY methodology.
- Ensure reward processes are equitable, transparent and aligned to organisational objectives.
- Manage pay benchmarking activities and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Contribute to reward projects and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
- Develop strong working relationships with HR colleagues, senior leaders and employee representatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant employment legislation and best practice.
About You
We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running and bring practical reward expertise into a complex organisation.
Essential
- Significant experience in a senior Reward position.
- Proven experience leading a team.
- Strong knowledge and practical application of HAY Job Evaluation.
- Experience with pay structures, grading frameworks and salary benchmarking.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and present reward data clearly and effectively.
Desirable
- Experience within the charitable, public or wider third sector.
- CIPD qualification or equivalent.
- Experience working within a large, multi-site organisation.
