Role: HR Advisor
Location: Cockermouth (Onsite)
Salary: Up-to £40,000 per annum
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
An established UK-based organisation within a distribution and operations-led environment is seeking an HR Advisor to take ownership of day-to-day HR activity and help develop it's HR function.
This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the business, supporting managers directly, and improving how HR operates in practice.
The Opportunity
This is a newly evolving HR position, created to bring greater structure, pace, and consistency to HR operations. You’ll take responsibility for the end-to-end HR advisory and operational workload, allowing the business to move away from reactive, manual processes and towards a more effective and modern approach.
The organisation employs approximately 250 people, operates across multiple UK sites, and is continuing to grow.
Key Responsibilities

Acting as the first point of contact for day-to-day HR queries across the business

Managing employee relations matters including absence, disciplinary, grievance, and low-level capability issues

Supporting recruitment activity, working with hiring managers to improve speed and quality

Taking ownership of HR administration and records, improving accuracy and consistency

Reviewing and simplifying policies, procedures, and handbooks, ensuring they are practical and understood

Supporting and coaching managers on people issues and basic employment practice

Playing a key role in refreshing and delivering a more engaging, streamlined induction process

Contributing to early-stage training and development initiatives, particularly for line managers
About You

Previous experience as an HR Advisor or equivalent

Comfortable working in a practical, operational, and onsite environment

Confident handling employee relations issues with support where needed

Organised, pragmatic, and able to improve manual or spreadsheet-driven processes

A strong communicator who can build trust with managers in a traditional culture

CIPD L5 qualification (or working towards) would be advantageous but not essential
