Please Note: The People Advisor role is to support a portfolio of retail stores and will require circa 5 days travel per month. Generally, there is no overnight expectation, except on rare occasions.

The Role
We’re looking for a People Advisor to play a key role in supporting the business' retail division. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to provide visibility, support, and guidance across the full employee lifecycle to the portfolio of 25 retail stores.
What you’ll be doing

Acting as the first point of contact for managers and employees on people-related matters, from absence to low-level casework.

Building trusted relationships with Retail Sales Managers, Branch Managers, and Area Managers, ensuring clear communication and consistency across multiple sites.

Supporting monthly meetings with leaders and being ready to provide confident, informed advice to a commercial and fast-paced senior team.

Driving engagement across branches, helping teams feel heard and supported during a period of ongoing cultural transformation.

Partnering with managers to coach, challenge, and develop their people management skills.

Supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee development initiatives.

Ensuring compliance with employment law and internal policies while keeping people processes smooth and effective.
What we’re looking for

A resilient, energetic, and personable HR professional who can speak the language of an agricultural business and adapt to different audiences.

Strong interpersonal skills - able to connect with people across diverse sites, from rural branches to senior leaders.

Experience in a People/HR role, with confidence handling day-to-day ER and people processes.

Ideally CIPD qualified.

Someone based in Carlisle/Cumbria, willing to travel across our retail network circa 5 days a month (day travel, rare overnight)

A genuine interest in agriculture or rural communities would be an advantage.
