Role: Sous Chef – Michelin Star
Location: Carlisle, Cumbria
Salary: £38,000 – £40,000 + service charge
Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week (overtime paid)
Realise have partnered with the Michelin-starred Pentonbridge Inn, an award-winning fine dining restaurant with rooms boasting 1 Michelin star and 3 AA rosettes, to find their next Sous Chef.
Located just outside Carlisle on the Scottish border, Pentonbridge Inn offers 9 beautifully designed en-suite guest rooms and a 30-cover restaurant. Known for its seasonal tasting menus, the kitchen celebrates the best of UK produce alongside homegrown vegetables and herbs from its sister property, Netherby Hall.
The role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the team as Sous Chef, working closely with the Head Chef to maintain and elevate standards. You will be a hands-on leader in the kitchen, supporting the small team, and ensuring every service delivers the exceptional dining experience Pentonbridge Inn is known for.
Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in menu development, including seasonal tasting menus and special events

Lead the day-to-day running of the kitchen, maintaining the highest standards of preparation and presentation

Mentor and motivate junior team members while fostering a positive working environment

Oversee ordering and stock management, monitoring GP targets while using only the best produce

Maintain exceptional hygiene and organisational standards across the kitchen

Support the implementation of new procedures and processes to enhance kitchen efficiency
About you

Proven experience in Michelin-starred and/or AA rosette kitchens

Strong, stable career history with senior kitchen experience

Excellent leadership and man-management skills

Solid classical cooking foundations with a creative flair

Positive, proactive approach with a passion for excellence
